Announcing the results of votes at a general meeting

Our Managing Agent at our AGM stated that she will announce the result of the voting in the minutes of our AGM and then ended the meeting. Surely this is not correct?

Correct – this is not correct.

The STSM Act states the following about the results of voting at a meeting –

PMR 20

(8)           The outcome of each vote, including the number of votes for and against the resolution, must be announced by the chairperson and recorded in the minutes of the meeting.

That means that the Chairperson is supposed to announce the results of the votes at the meeting – not the day after the meeting and not only in the minutes of the meeting
